Thetford in Bloom is a Thetford Town Council initiative to work with residents who support our Town Team to brighten up the town with floral displays and carry out conservation tasks.
The Thetford in Bloom Volunteer Group runs once a week on a Friday morning, with residents joining the team, assisting with horticultural tasks in the town.
The team work to install and maintain floral displays, carry out litter picks, weeding and other tasks in the town. The tasks are adapted to all needs with our Environmental Officer on hand to support with more physical aspects, as well as supplying a well needed cup of tea to participants at the end of the session.
The Thetford Conservation Volunteer Group meet on a Thursday morning, the group works to help support with conservation tasks such as planting and maintenance of our open spaces, helping to install bird and bat boxes, supporting the installation of wildlife ponds and wildlife surveys.
For more information about our volunteer groups, please contact the team via email at [email protected].
The groups have been instrumental in helping to support the improvements in the town, aiding Thetford with being awarded a Silver ‘Anglia in Bloom’ Award in 2022 and 2023 and a Silver-Gilt at the 2024 awards. (Large Town Category)
The Town Council recognises the volunteers, residents and other local groups who help to support the efforts to keep the town clean, tidy and welcoming. The Thetford in Bloom Awards take place in the summer months, with residents encouraged to nominate other members of the community to recognise their residential floral displays and other conservation and horticultural contributions. The awards recognise those who are named: Environmental Champion, Best Environmental Project, Best Floral Business Display as well as Best Front Garden.
