The Town of Thetford remembers all those who fell in the Great War as part of the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War one. Thetford is honoured to one of the 12 Founder Members of this project and welcomes individuals, businesses and community groups to get involved and be part of the town wide remembrance.

There are a range of events throughout the year culminating in the towns participation of a Nations Tribute on November 11th.

A small group of venues have been working together to be the launch pad of this project with the first 14 Tommy Silhouettes arriving in Thetford today.

These Tommies will be hosted by Thetford Town Council, The Royal British Legion, St Cuthbert’s Church, Methodist Church, Dads Army Museum, Keystone Innovation Trust, United Reformed Church., but Thetford needs you to be part of this too!

A Roll of hour is going to be produced for all the businesses, individuals and organisation who sponsor a Tommy as part of this project all displays will be photographed and documented, with the intention of these being part of a town display so please sign up for your Tommy here

With prices from £10 for a name block and £42 plus vat for a sitting silhouette this is a project available to all. So if you have a shop window, a venue, garden, or other space where you can have a Tommy please take part and make this an incredible project for Thetford whilst raising money for Charity.

Life sized Tommies can be purchased for £750 each and later we will release details of how people can donate toward the Town purchase of one of these Silhouettes so please check our Facebook, Twitter or sign up to our newsletter for latest information.

The Town is also launching a poppy appeal, looking for veterans for a parade and people to volunteer at events, bake cake and spread the word. Everyone’s contribution is valuable so please join us.
