Public Notice:
Works begin today on the river breach area near Ford Meadow. Access to the area will be restricted whilst these works take place in line with EA guidance.
“Thetford Town Council will have fixed a naturally occurring breach on the River Thet at Nuns’ Bridges with a solution that will allow fish to move freely through the town, around Coffee Mill and into the River Thet.
This work complements a range of other river restoration works already carried out on the Little Ouse, and will help ensure better resilience of our fish populations.
Fish and eels are frequently hindered by man-made barriers in our modified rivers. These barriers can prevent fish from finding suitable spawning habitats and food, and can prevent escape from pollution and low flow pressures.”
