The works began on the new play park at Redcastle on the 4th of January 2017. The new play area is being installed due to the efforts of Redcastle Action Group, Breckland District Council and the Town Council.

The Redcastle Action group raised £6,000 towards the new equipment costs. Donna Warnock, Cathy Morgan, Livvy Renwick Kate Mansfield and Stan Wells organised a number of community fund raising events and raised a massive £6000. They have earned a big thank you from the town for all their hard work.

Breckland District Council made a play grant of £13,080 and the balance £20,920 will come from the Town Council’s earmarked play park reserves. Cllr Brenda Canham chair of the Town Council Amenities Committee said ‘ We are really pleased to see the major improvements that are being completed at Redcastle. This would not have been possible without the efforts of the Redcastle action Group and the generous grant of £13,080 from Breckland District Council.’

The opening ceremony for the play parks is planned for Saturday the 25th of February 2017 at 11am. Please come a long and visit this fantastic new facility for the town!
The Town Council is also planning to repair seven parks in the Town. The parks scheduled for improvements are Castle Park, Pine Close, Harriet Martineau Close, Fairfields, Elm Road, Bergamont Close and Edinburgh Way. As well as repairing the broken equipment all the play surfaces will be repaired and the play equipment will be painted so they will look like new. These works will be phased over the Spring period so that they are completed by the summer.

Once all the repairs are completed we are looking to keep the play parks in tip top condition and we need your help! The town council are looking for play park monitor volunteers who will help with litter picking and report and damage.
