The Council would like to thank the members of the public who made direct contact with the council about the disabled access issues in relation to the gates at Ford Meadow. The council specified that the new gates should be disability accessible however although the gates complied with British Standards for disability access they are not wide enough to accommodate larger wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

The Amenities Committee discussed this on the 5th of April and agreed to make sure there are easy accessible gates. The changes will not be made immediately as the council wants to consult with local people and disability access groups to make sure that any new gates are fully accessible to ensure access for all who want to enjoy our beautiful common.
