Viola was elected to the Town Council in May 2024, and represents Iceni Ward.
Viola has lived in Thetford since 2010, when she was recruited as a seabird ecologist at the Thetford-based conservation charity, the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).
She quickly fell in love with the town and the surrounding area and is now firmly embedded in the community. She still works at the BTO, although nowadays she has swapped fieldwork on remote islands for a desk-based job, with duties including producing the Trust’s quarterly membership magazine and representing the BTO in the media.
She has a son at Drake Primary School. The environment, education and provision of local services are all particularly important to her.
Viola said “Thetford is a beautiful town with so much fascinating history and potential. I want to do everything I can to make it a safe and inspiring place for my son and other children to grow up in, and a place where they can see a future for themselves.”
